Hi Ruud,

> Good that you are back!
Yes, I have gotten a bit fed up with being continuously busy, moving house four times and constantly having no time for my hobby. I have sometimes wonderes what life is all about if you are here and not allowed to do something that you want to do. What's the point? Now I have a small workshop in the apartment, behind a curtain.

> ... about Windoze10: I accepted the offer from Micro$oft for a free update to W10, but I removed all crap one day later...
I know the feeling. Unfortunately my computer did a megga-crash and took away the HD. 1TB of data missing. I bought a new computer that is fast, but no firewire, no parallel port, no serial port, and trying to run Windoze10. I tried Windoze7 but there is no support for some of the hardware. The graphics are oval instead of circular. I am now looking for an old desktop so I can access my DV-camera, parallel printer, EPROM burner, etc.

I managed to de-install Norton and McCafee from the operating system, but it took a couple of days. I deleted about 30 different services that NETSTAT showed were letting Micro$oft eavesdrop on my new machine. I also installed a new firewall that simply blocks everything - all traffic, unless I give permission to each individual application.

> Now I am a happy user again ...
That's good to know. I have just done a new installation on my RaspberryPI and also got a new Arduino "everything-starter-kit". Now I can at least run parallel ports and serial ports, so I am a lot happier. I even have a spectrum analyser based on a RaspberryPI, and my homepages are now running on another RaspberryPI.

I think I may have a laptop with Firewire, 1.6GHz, 2GB memory and able to run WindowsXP.

Sorry Ruud, I used to wonder why old men are so grumpy, but now I am one I understand it. Besides that, if you look in the mirror every morning and see what I see then you would be grumpy ;-)

Sorry for the moan, but modern technology is not always a good thing to have.

Best regards from Harry

Good that you are back!
I like the new articles on the website about the alternative use of voltage regulators.
And about Windoze10: I accepted the offer from Micro$oft for a free update to W10, but I removed all crap one day later and went back to Windows 7 professional.
Now I am a happy user again...

Hi once more Ruud,
I think that the lack of activity has been because I have not be around much over the past two years due to family and health issues.

If there is little response to questions then there is no incentive to return. Now that I have a more stable family/health life I intend to push the forum more and be a lot more active. I also want to post a few bulls to newsgroups to see if I can get a bit more activity. Unforunately I have Windoze10 and it is not compatible with the old Outlook Express I used for newsgroups.

There used to be a lot of ideas and suggestions that provoked the imagination and that i want to re-kindle.

Very best regards from Harry

Hi Harry,

Good to read that you are still there and (hopefully) are doing well.
It seems the forum is not visited very often by members nowadays, let's hope that this will change as well in the future!
Also good to know that there is a new project in the pipeline! Looking forward to that...
And of course: Merry Christmas!!

Ruud.

Hi Ruud,
I have had a rather turbulent three years with not a lot of activity, either on the radio or the workbench.

Little glimmer of hope, I recently needed a bench PSU, so I bought a couple of thousand 78L05 regulators from China.

These devices I have used to make a variable voltage PSU, high-current (>20A) regulator, audio amplifier, RF power (mW) amplifier and a QRP (5W) power amplifier. I have also used them for oscillators and battery charger regulators. These devices are full packed with loadsa electronics for just a few crowns.

All the projects are intended as ideas and "food for thought". You may get a good laugh from some of the ideas. At the moment, here in Spain, I have no workbench to speak of. But I have further ideas, such as a push-pull RF PA using voltage regulators.

I hope to put the projects on the pages in January when I next return to Sweden. Probably about the 10th of Jan.

I will update www.sm0vpo.com first and then sm0vpo.altervista.org later on.

What is going on here?
For as far as I can see nothing has happened here for almost 6 months!
Is this forum 'dead'? No more questions?
No more DIY going on?
Questions, questions...

It seems it is working again!
(Unfortunately not very much news on the website.
I would be more interested in technical designs than what Harry is doing in the bedroom...)

I have tried several times to reach http://www.sm0vpo.com/, but all I got was 'page not found'.
Has the location of the website changed, or is it a problem at my end?
Just curious!
