Re: Anyone know of a source of OC16 PNP power transistors?
Hi again,
I think I have one OC16 somewhere at home, but I have moved house 4 times since I last saw it.
I think that you will find that OC25 has a similar/better characteristic, but the package is totally different. the OC25 is available on ebay for about $10 each.
A really quick look at the specs:
OC16: 30V 1.5A
OC25: 40V 4.0A
Vbe is about the same so it should work.

According to:
https://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_oc16.html
It is about the same as AD149.
(Successor of OC16 is OC28. Successor of OC28 is ASZ15. https://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_asz15.html )
By chance I found a databook for OCxx transistors (well not OC16 but e.g. OC28). Maybe it will interest you?:

Thank you very much for the links Glenn.
I tried eBay a few weeks ago but couln'd find anything. I will be here for another 9 days, then I will see if they are still there.
(In Spain at the moment - only basic accounts information with me).
But thank you for the links. Really appreciate yout time.

There are a few OC16 for sale here:

There are lots of AD149 for sale:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=ad149&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=ad149&_sacat=0
I have some AD149, but they are used and untested for now. I bought a box of mixed used power transistor from here (there are OC26, AD161, AD162...2N3055...) I do not know if he actually have more for sale, because I thought I bought the only box. It is cheap, even if only half of the transistors works:

First of all, you need to know when renewal matters. In the US, books published before 1964 had to get their copyrights renewed at the Library of Congress Copyright Office in their 28th year, or they'd fall into the public domain. Some books originally published outside the US by non-Americans are exempt from this requirement, and in fact some such books had their copyrights restored recently. If you need to know more about the rules for books published outside the US, see this page from the Copyright Office, explaining recent changes in copyright law imposed by GATT. Basically a work is exempt from renewal requirements if all of the following conditions apply:
At least one author was a citizen or resident of a foreign country (outside the US) that's a party to the applicable copyright agreements. (Almost all countries are parties to these agreements.)
The work was still under copyright in at least one author's "home country" at the time the GATT copyright agreement went into effect for that country (1 January 1996 for most countries).
The work was first published abroad, and not published in the United States until at least 30 days after its first publication abroad.
If you can prove any of these conditions don't apply, and the work was originally published or copyrighted before 1964, then the work had to be renewed in order to stay copyrighted in the US.

Hi Glen,
thank you very much. Very interesting information.
I was thinking about the encapsulation for which the amplifier mechanics were originally designed.
But I suppose to be practical you have to accept some changes.
Interesting on the history of the OC16. Didn't know that .

When I did my apprenticeship in 1969 we were given a project to build, an audio amplifier using OC16 output devices. I am more interested for nostalgic purposes, but my Tecnics SU-3 (also vintage) has packed in. I thought of re-building the PA stages with a nostalgic twist ;-)
