I am busy experimenting with coils and have a little observation.
I wanted the project for HF and in that it works fantastically well. But I have been experimenting with coils and there appears to be a slight hitch at higher frequencies - above about 100MHz.
I used two wired from the tuning capacitor to the DIN socket. I then built the oscillator on the DIN socket. Mistake! It has to be mounted as close to the variable cap as possible. That way the capacitor wires are in the tuned circuit.
Very easy to update: Just move the oscillator components. The two wires from the capacitor to the DIN socket are to be a part of (inside) the tuned circuit, not external to it.
