Re: Changes to www.sm0vpo.com
One other little addition, Magnus also changed the "a-record" to point to my IP address, so that if you type in only http://sm0vpo.com then it also works.
I remember 25 years ago I just registered a homepage with a supplier and uploaded all my files. My capacity limit was 10MB.
Today HHH uses several GB of space and all external hosting sites tend to have their own rules, also loads of adverts for things like hemorrhoid pills, false hair, toothpaste and ineffective health pills. Advertising seems to have become the driving force to almost everything, these days. On Swedish TV we have 28 minutes of advertisements every hour. I do not want advertising on my homepages.
Anyway, I am doing my best to make HHH more visible, without advertising, and most of all - free. To this end I am really grateful for the help I am getting from Magnus.
Have a nice day - Harry - sm0vpo

Changes to www.sm0vpo.com
Hi all,
Many of you may have been a bit irritated with http://www.sm0vpo.com not being able to add the extension to a project, eg:
http://www.sm0vpo.com/power/transformers.htm
This is because my domain provider had their own homepage address registered in the DNS lookup service(s). they then forwarded the connection to http://www.sm0vpo.com
I suppose it was an attempt to get me to host my homepages on their server instead of using domain forwarding to my own server.
I have got some help from an expert and he has changed the domain registered in the DNS to my own IP-address, so now it all works perfectly as I wanted it to work. Relative links now work fine For example:
http://www.sm0vpo.com/pic/pic_counter_01.htm
I will shortly be changing to a different domain provide and have my domain registered by a different company who will do it properly.
In addition I will start using certificates, so that I will not get the Google-punishment for not buying one of their certificates (I am getting a free one )
The domain forwarding that took out the relative URL address was also the reason that certificates did not work. I have had a certificate installed, but domain forwarding did not support that.
So there has been a lot of work ironing out all these little annoying bugs. I must thank my step-son Magnus, who has spent several hours working to correct and get to the bottom of these issues. Now the bottom is in sight (not literally).
I will add to this post when https://www.sm0vpo.com is up and running.
Very best regards from Harry - sm0vpo
