Radio beacon calling "OIG"
Guys, where would I get information or some sort of clue to what I believe to be, a radio beacon broadcasting the letters "OIG" in morse, continuously in the 70's and into the early 80's. I remember it very clearly, dah dah dah dit dit dah dah dit.
I know I've mentioned this before, it was indeed Harry that said (or hinted) it was a trawler beacon used for navigating shipping.
I'm very sure that what I heard would have been an image frequency, since I only ever picked it up on one single radio (and I tried lots over those years). I tuned it in by tuning our little kitchen radio to the (then) BBC Radio 1 frequency of 247 meters, and then flicked the band switch over to the longwave position.
Here's an ebay link to the exact same radio we had in our kitchen during the 70's... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251203498954?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
As I have said, this is the only radio I ever managed to pick up that signal, no other radio I have ever tried pulled it in.
